Abdisamad Adan grew up in Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland (an autonomous region of Somalia). He just began his first year at Harvard University. In this episode, he shares what it was like to apply from Somaliland.
He went to a public primary school in Hargeisa and later attended Abaarso School of Science and Technology for secondary education.
While a junior at Abaarso School, he received a scholarship from ASSIST, an organization that gives international students one year opportunity to attend an independent college preparatory high school in the US. Abdisamad completed his high school education at the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
This past year, he worked as the Executive Assistant of Abaarso School of Science and Technology while applying to colleges.
